Our Modalities...

Every person who comes to therapy brings a unique story, which is why we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. The approaches below are some of the modalities we commonly draw from in our work together, but they aren't used in isolation or in a set order. Instead, we tailor each session to your goals, your experiences, and what feels most supportive for you. Think of these modalities as different tools that help us better understand your experiences, strengthen your relationship with yourself, and move toward the life you want to live.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a therapy approach that can help people process difficult or distressing experiences that continue to affect them in the present. Rather than focusing only on talking through an experience, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) to help the brain process memories in a way that feels less overwhelming. Many people find that memories become less emotionally charged and easier to make sense of over time.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)/Parts Work

IFS is based on the idea that we all have different "parts" of ourselves that serve important roles. Some parts may be protective, while others may carry hurt, fear, or difficult experiences. Through curiosity and compassion, IFS helps us better understand these parts, creating more self-awareness, healing, and inner balance.

Gottman Method Relationship Therapy

The Gottman Method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy that focuses on strengthening friendship, improving communication, and helping couples navigate conflict in healthier ways. Together, we explore the patterns that leave you feeling disconnected while building practical skills that support trust, understanding, and lasting connection.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic approaches help us pay attention to what is happening in the body, not just the mind. Stress, trauma, and emotions often show up physically, and learning to notice these experiences can provide valuable information about what we need. This work can help you feel more connected to yourself, your emotions, and your nervous system.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT focuses on helping you build a meaningful life, even when difficult thoughts and emotions show up. Instead of trying to get rid of uncomfortable feelings, ACT helps you respond to them with greater flexibility while making choices that are aligned with your values. The goal is to help you spend less time struggling with your thoughts and more time engaging in the life that matters to you.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT helps us understand the emotions and needs that exist beneath our reactions and behaviours. By exploring these emotions in a safe and supportive space, we can better understand ourselves, strengthen relationships, and create new patterns of connection. EFT is commonly used with both individuals and couples.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

DBT focuses on building practical skills to navigate life's challenges more effectively. It can help with managing overwhelming emotions, improving relationships, tolerating distress, and staying present in difficult moments. Many clients appreciate the balance between learning concrete tools and developing greater self-understanding.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of bringing gentle awareness to the present moment without judgment. Rather than getting caught up in worries about the future or replaying the past, mindfulness helps us notice what is happening right now with greater curiosity and compassion. Over time, this can help reduce stress, increase self-awareness, and create a greater sense of balance.
